Our Bedtime Routine

Sleep is one of the most important factors in releasing growth hormones, most especially for very young babies. While your baby sleeps, her little body produces 3x more growth hormones.

The good news is there is a way to promote better sleep for your baby: through a consistent nightly bedtime routine.

What's our bedtime routine?

The kids know that it's time to sleep when we turn off the lights. Everybody goes to bed and the kids will each have their own "sleeping tactics". Sam and Simon needs to drink milk before they go to sleep. Sam needs his Jollibee stuff toy and Simon needs whatever stuff toy he can lay his hands on as long as he has something like what Kuya Sam has.

Sam needs to be hugged, and need someone to really hold him tight for him to go to sleep. Simon needs a pat at the back, and the bottom. Basti sleeps on his own already. One thing about Basti  is that he needs to have a pillow over his head. So most of the time we need to watch him and take that pillow from his head so he won't get suffocated.

We try to make them as comfortable as possible and try to give them enough space so they can "maneuver" while they are sleeping. In the morning when we wake up, or even in the middle of the night, we will find them all over each other because they are so "malikot" in their sleep.

Very important, one thing that I discovered after attending the Johnson's Discoveries back in January and applying what I learned, is that my Sam loves to be massaged. So this is what I do most of the time for him so he will sleep better, and more importantly, so he would feel more loved and special. Simon would always look like he wanted one too, so I  try to massage the two of them as often as I can. Basti who thinks that he's not a baby anymore does not want to be massaged  but he loves the smell of  the Johnson's Bedtime lotion and powder. The smell of both is really good and relaxing, so they fall asleep easily and sleep soundly through the night.

The best part is waking up in the morning when Simon would wake up first, smiling his radiant smile, and there's nothing left to do but smile back and be happy!
